Recipe for Flatbread with Cheddar Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water (adjust as needed)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (optional, for brushing)
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Add olive oil and warm water. Stir to combine and form a dough.
    • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
    • Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Roll Out the Dough:
    • After resting, divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
    • Roll each portion into a thin circle, about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Cook the Flatbread:
    • Heat a large skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
    • Place the rolled-out dough onto the dry skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes, until bubbles start forming on the surface.
    • Flip the flatbread over and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes more until golden brown.
  4. Add Cheddar Cheese:
    • While the second side is cooking, sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the flatbread.
    • Once both sides are golden and the cheese has melted, remove from the skillet.
  5. Optional:
    • Brush the warm flatbread with melted butter for extra flavor.
    • Sprinkle with fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for a fragrant touch.
  6. Serve:
    • Cut into wedges and serve warm. Enjoy as a snack or alongside your favorite dipping sauce!

This cheesy flatbread is a delicious and easy treat, perfect for any occasion!
